Louis’ mother, Consuelo Gerardo, a high school Librarian, was elected President of the American Baptist Churches of the Pacific Southwest in 1986. She was the First Layperson, First Woman and First Hispanic ever elected to that position. She was also one of the founders of the Head Start Program in the San Fernando/Pacoima area of Los Angeles. In 2006, she was named the Los Angeles Baptist City Mission Society, Woman of the Year.
