Rick Santorum made a good point, when he said, that a university education is not for everyone, and pursuing the industrial arts should be respected as highly as any other choice for a career. We need to develop highly skilled workers in order to attract middle class jobs to Nevada, and the skill level of our workforce is key to attracting them, and to diversifying our economy, and supporting a healthy Middle Class.

A healthy Middle Class, is the key to Nevada’s financial future.

The German apprentice program will be the model for our apprenticeship program, (SEE BELOW THE ARTICLE ABOUT GERMAN YOUTH) and is one reason why Germany is the preeminent economy in Europe. Germany, is not having any of the financial troubles that plague many other parts of Europe, and their premier apprentice programs is one of the reasons they avoided the Euro disaster.

Many young people, as young as 16 years of age, are ready mentally, intellectually, and temperamentally to join the workforce, but they lack opportunity. I will create an apprenticeship program available to every qualified company. This will allow students in the apprentice program, who show a sincere effort, to work part of their school day as they learn, and earn $ as they do!

Educational aims will be adjusted to measure these students effectively, and it will be augmented by distance learning and class room time every day!

We will have experts to guide them, and to make sure they have better than average reading and reasoning ability. The reason we will make such an issue of it is because, reasoning and reading is what will make these workers able to adjust to the new challenges they will face in their career as they move along.  It will be essential to their CONTINUING SUCCESS, and so that is why we will emphasize reading and reasoning in this program, in addition to the incredible practical skills they will master.

My apprentice program will also LOWER THE DROP OUT RATE and help to keep students in school through the difficult middle school years. Many middle school students who will be interested in this program will make the extra effort to make sure the stay in school to qualify, and since it starts at 16, they will not have long to wait!

Parents will be better able to direct a highly motivate middle school student that might have dropped out otherwise, who is now hoping to get into the apprentice program, as soon as they are 16 years old!.  To remain in the program students will be required to graduate high school, and to show REASONABLE normal progress, as they move along. Anyone, who is actually trying to avoid their high school education through this program, will be dismissed.

Companies that hire drop outs later, will also be removed from the program.

For those of you who want further information, see the article below from back in 2009.  The German Program has continued to be an outstanding success. France, next door to Germany, has an extremely high percentage of jobless youth, because they have a very weak apprenticeship program.

These ideas are the fruits of the extensive travel and study that I have done, visiting almost 100 countries over the last ten years, and seeing what they are doing there, up close and personal.  YOU MAY SEE THE ADVANTAGES OF VOTING FOR A SENATOR THAT KNOWS THE WORLD AS WELL AS I DO.

In most countries, giving up full-time schooling at age 15 would seem like a bad plan. But for Christian Dietrich, who lives in the German village of Ketsch, outside Heidelberg, the move made sense. Three years ago, Dietrich became an apprentice at Helmut Herbert, a large plumbing contractor in nearby Bensheim, alternating two weeks of on-the-job training with one week of classes. Now 18, Dietrich will qualify next year in what are traditionally separate trades: heating, plumbing, and air-conditioning. He’s proud of his accomplishment. “You used to have to call three technicians. Now you only need one,” says Dietrich, already making a sales pitch for his company.

I’m not a professional politician.  In fact, I’m just a regular guy, I’m no better and no worse than most people.  I’ve had my successes and my failures, I’m not perfect, but along the way, I have learned some hard lesions in life, just like, I suspect, many of you have as well.

But,

There is an important fact about me for you to consider and It’s not my Phi Beta Kappa key from UC Berkeley in political theory, and it’s not the fact that I have traveled to almost 100 countries over the last 10 years or so, and it is not my personal religious life which led me as a Born Again Christian, to start a Christian coffee house in the 1980’s, and to attend Presbyterian seminary (although, I was raised a Baptist) looking for a Macedonian call, which obviously, never came.

It’s not any of those things that really matter about me, in terms of your vote in the primary, on June 12^th,  The most important fact about me is that I hate war

But, when I say I hate war, I say it with a far greater sense of urgency, and from a far more personal point of view, than, you might at first imagine.

Let me explain.

As, many of you already know, I’m a  Vietnam Era Veteran, Although, I didn’t go to Vietnam, I spent all my time in the service here stateside, but towards the end of my enlistment, I received an incredible honor when I was selected to be part of the Burial Detail Honor Guard, at Fort Lewis, Washington, in 1969.

It was our job to bury the kids coming back from Vietnam.

They were coming home in large numbers, and, we buried them with full military honors anywhere in the great Northwest, and that meant that we had to take them home, and that experience became one of the seminal experiences of my life.

What we had to do on the Burial Detail, our job, my job, along with the other of the seven riflemen who were also pall bearers, was to do a 21-gun salute, three shots into the air in practiced unison, and to carry the boy to the grave in front of his parents.

Now, today, we will also be carrying our young women.

Our first Sergeant called out the formations and our bugler played those excruciatingly mournful notes of taps and except, for me, all the other guys on the Burial Detail had just returned from their Vietnam duty.  Every part of it was still fresh in their minds, even though, they didn’t want to talk about it too much, but standing there next to them, I could feel what they were feeling, what was radiating out of them when we were burying those kids, and out of the corner of my eye I could see silent tears that they would never explain.

We buried one dead kid after the other.  Most of them were 19, maybe, 20 years old.

One body at a time.

In small towns and big cities all over the Northwest, and we did our best, for one mother at a time, and one father at a time, one sister and one brother, at a time, and to the YOUNG WIFE OR STONE FACED FATHER OR ANGUISHED MOTHER, OR TO THE BEWILDERED CHILDREN, our white gloved sergeant handed the folded flag of our country with the utmost respect and gratitude.

The guys on the burial detail, we were all standing close enough to see very well as we stood at attention, actually, we couldn’t avoid seeing the anguish, the loss, the unknowable hurt and pain that would never go away, and always, standing by and standing near, was one group of LOVING friends, at a time.

And, after enough of those burials up close and personal, I grew to hate war, IN A MUCH MORE PROFOUND WAY THAN I EVER WOULD HAVE UNDER ANY OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES, and it became a powerful desire in my life, that if I could, I would stop those needless burials of brave and idealistic young people, in wars that are ill conceived and unconstitutional.

And now, here we are again.

Yes!

Here we are again, because, right now, at this present moment, America is about to go into another stupid war, another needless, entirely unavoidable, misconceived, potentially, disastrous and unconstitutional War, and most American don’t even know it!

Just like when the Vietnam war started, most people that were going to be fighting in it, didn’t even know it had begun because there was never a vote taken to go to that war as is required by the Constitution of the United States, and no Declaration of War by the Congress, which is also required, and therefore, no political process, as required by the Constitution, and it’s going to be the same this time.

Because, just like in Vietnam we are going to be tricked into it, just like we were tricked into Vietnam.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports approximately

9 per 1,000 AMERICAN children are diagnosed with ASD (AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS).

Worldwide, however, the prevalence of autism is ONLY about 1–2 per 1,000 people.

WHAT IS HAPPENING TO OUR AMERICAN BABIES?

WE NEED TO FIND OUT, NOW!

You cannot stop autism one state at a time, we need a national response to this incredible health crises and we need the right treatments and approaches to help these children achieve their full potential. Anything less is not worthy of a free and religious people. ANY HEARTLESS PERSON WHO TURNS THEIR BACK ON OUR BABIES, WILL NOT ESCAPE MY JUDGMENT, AND THEY SHOULD NOT ESCAPE YOURS EITHER.

Speak up for Autism and a national solution!

I will work diligently with all public and private organizations, both here and worldwide to find the key to what is happening to our kids, AND TO IMPLEMENT THE NEEDED SOLUTIONS NOW!  I will support “Autism Speaks” and all organizations public and private who are working for a solution!

WE MUST FIND A WAY TO SUPPORT OUR CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES,

They need us, and all of us will benefit from the help they receive!

WHAT I INTEND TO DO

I will push for more  research, AND SUPPORT FOR FAMILIES.

By support, I mean we have to make available a wide range of enrichment programs to each child, these have been proven to have a positive affect.  Also, support programs for the parents and siblings to alleviate the deadly stress that can weigh a family down, and to promote societal acceptance and understanding.  Sophisticated autism awareness training should be required of every professional who works with children and their parents.

Children who have been touched by the Spectrum have so much to offer to society, the actual value of their inevitable contribution to the world will be incalculable.  These children are going to do amazing things and provide society with an amazing benefit.  Helping these children, is truly helping ourselves.

Special children make all of us more special, each and every one of them, and each and every one of us.

I will be working to bring together both private industry and government to devise affordable programs to meet these extremely urgent needs, and to support the research that will unravel this mystery.

TOGETHER WE CAN DO IT FOR THE KIDS, THE FAMILIES, AND FOR OURSELVES.

THIS WILL BE A TOP PRIORITY OF MINE ONCE ELECTED!

Our troops have been put into an untenable position, sending them into a war without the proper political process, so that the American people are completely out of touch with their struggle and sacrifice, as if we forgot that THEY ARE OUR CITIZEN SOLDIERS.

THAT IS THE WRONG WAY TO GO TO WAR.

It puts our troops in an inferior position to highly motivated cultists, who do have a political motive and goal as strange and impossible as theirs might be.  Still, it provides them with a certainty of purpose that our soldiers deserve to have as well, as a matter of fact A CLEAR POLITICAL OBJECTIVE IS ESSENTIAL TO A STRONG EXPEDITIONARY FORCE.  Eisenhower and George Washington knew that well, both were presidents who were also field commanders.  But, instead, we send our soldiers out there to find the political meaning of their war, for themselves.

It’s despicable, and it’s bi-partisan.  Democrats and Republicans do not show one wit of difference between the two of them when it comes to stupid wars.

Extreme Republicans want to shoot first and ask questions later, so who can follow them except, some gun-happy war mongers, and “get along” Democrats are easily pressured by the war mongering right wing extremist of the Republican Party, simply because they don’t want to be seen as soft on the enemy.  Thus, they are easily manipulated, to the point that there is no difference between the two in terms of foreign policy and foreign wars.

Since, the end of the Second World War, Democrats go to war as easily as Republicans, and I am here to call them both out on this matter of senseless war, without achievable purpose or end.

Lyndon Johnson, a Democrat didn’t want to seem to be soft on communist because he would lose the election to the Republicans.  So, we got the Vietnam War out of him, when he was really more interested in the War On Poverty.  President Obama did not want to be considered soft on the war on terror either, and lose the reelection to the Republicans, so thus, he continued the War in Afghanistan.  Bush got pressured by Chaney, the ambassador of the Military-Industrial Complex, and suddenly, we have weapons of mass distraction in Iraq.

3 trillion dollars later, we leave anyway.

When we could have left just as easily 60 days after we got there.  That would have been within the Presidents prerogative.  Under our War Powers Act, he has 60 days, and then, we need a Declaration Of War by the congress, which requires a political process that will get the whole country involved and behind our troops.

I don’t even want to go into the reasons we went into Iraq, and in whose interests we fought, because that is as far from the point as it could be.

What is the point, what is of greatest  importance NOW, are the lives of our idealistic service people who are at this moment in harms way, without the consolation of political certainty, a political certainty that they would have had, if this had not been just another war of foreign policy.

WARS OF FIREIGN POLICY ARE THE KINDS OF WARS IN WHICH OUR BRAVE AND IDEALISTIC SERVICE PEOPLE, THE BEST ARMY, NAVY AND AIR FORCE IN THE WORLD, are treated as just a pawn in their game.

ENOUGH!

Join with me to stop this.  Join with me, and bring our troops home to fight another day in a properly declared war with political support and the whole country engaged, when the whole country has some skin in the game, not just our loyal CITIZEN SOLDIERS.

EVERYONE MUST BE ENGAGED OR NO WAR.

That being the case, we must get them out now.  We have to regroup and think through our strategy once we have them home as fast as humanly possible.  The generals will say that is is even more dangerous to bring them home than to let them say, but be wise my fellow patriots, and REMEMBER THAT WAR IS TOO IMPORTANT TO BE LEFT TO THE GENERALS.

Troops out now of Afghanistan and Iraq, and home for summer!

For years Shelly Berkley has promised that alternative energy will create all the jobs we need in Nevada, but this has not worked, and Shelly Berkley seems to be the only one who doesn’t know it, and you can prove it to yourself.

Do a Google search, as I have, and write in, “alternative energy jobs in Nevada” .

Do you know what the number of those actual alternative energy jobs created by Shelly Berkley Will be?  Zero, goose egg, nothing, and this after Shelly Berkley has been in the congress FOR 10 YEARS pretending to have the solution for unemployment in Nevada!

Shelly Berkley failed because she has applied national solutions when local solutions are needed, not something supplied by the Democratic Party higher ups, not something right out of the box.  It’s like buying a suit off the rack and never having it tailored properly.  It looks like a cheap suit, just like Shelly Berkley’s jobs creation program for Nevada does.

What we need now, and what we have needed all along, is a job program tailored specifically to the needs of Nevada’s unemployed like my jobs proposal, contained in this website, and that I will put into effect.

The problem for ten years with Shelly Berkley has been, is that she looks for solutions from the top down, when the real solutions come from the bottom up, that’s where I found my inspiration for this exciting jobs plan.  In the unused capacities of my friends who suffer, and that is how I produced my job program, but Shelly Berkley could never know that  because she’s the richest candidate in the race, and she does not live the life that average Nevadans do!

Which, normally wouldn’t be a problem, or any kind of limitation, but now, under these extreme circumstances when we must put the good of the state before all, unfortunately for her, it is.  A big problem.

We need someone in touch with the real problems here where the rubber meets the road, and it better be someone with a unique solution.

HERE IS MY JOBS PROGRAM

(For the unemployed, young people ENTERING THE WORK FORCE for the first time, and RETURNING TROOPS AND THERI FAMILY MEMBERS, WHO WILL BE GIVEN THE FIRST PRIORITY!)

The key idea is:

AMERICAN INNOVATION LEADS THE WAY, AND “New Age Craftsmen”, make it happen!

My jobs plan will actually work, and, it’s not based on alternative energy. My jobs plan will actually create new jobs, not just replace the jobs that energy workers already have when they move over to the alternative energy jobs in the future themselves, that’s no net gain.

My plan that will prepare our unemployed workers to produce the next generation of amazing new products with which, America will astonish the world, and they will be made right here in Nevada.

My jobs plan will insure that Nevadans will be creating Products of unmatched quality, and against which, no other country will be able to compete, just like in the Fifties, and Sixties!

First of all we begin by building on the advantage that we have with OUR American innovators. 

During the downturn, our innovators have been working away madly on the products of the future, in seclusion, and now we have to attract them here to Nevada, by creating an environment that will convince them that this is the place that can make their dreams a reality, that Nevada, is truly THE NEW HOME OF NEW AGE MANUFACTURING! 

These are smaller facilities, fewer workers, but more highly paid workers, more skillful workers and more productive.  Yet, with this activity multiplied through many such companies, capable of creating tens of thousands of jobs for Nevada that will support a middle class life for a middle class family!

There is nobody like OUR American innovators, but for the lack of these necessary new age craftsmen, they have had to go elsewhere to create their dreams.

Now, these innovators will come to Nevada.  Remember, American innovators are the best in the world at conceiving what the new products of the future will need to be and will need do and how they will need to look.  But, in order to bring those new products to market, our American innovators need skillful new hands.  The skills that we can train our unemployed and workers entering the work force to have at a world class level.

We begin with this vision, and the key idea is that these new products will be based upon next generation manufacturing processes

Next generation manufacturing processes will require the next generation of highly skilled workers.  My jobs program will insure that we will have them right here in Nevada, and these talented and skillful workers will draw interest from companies around the globe who want to build and sell in America, and American companies who want to sell to the world.

This is how we bring American jobs back, doing what nobody else can do, doing what we can do best, making the products of tomorrow.  To do this, we will need to call on our world class junior college system to innovate as well, and to join in a public and private partnership that can turn our talented unemployed workforce into a new class of American worker!

If, we move quickly enough, this plan will make America competitive again in every one of the global markets, because they won’t have anything like the products we will make here together.  In global markets, the products created by emerging nations have two great drawbacks and they are the lack of quality and innovation, that’s the problem in the products coming from the emerging markets, and that’s where we can compete.

Emerging markets are flooding the world with unreliable and unexciting products, the “Me Too’s of the world, but here in America, the good old US of A, we have the innovators, and here in Nevada we can make them a home where they can create and market to the world.

That is our edge

if we follow my plan for job creation here in Nevada, we will also have the skilful new age craftsman that these innovators cannot do without and which they seek around the world right now, and we will have those new age craftsmen right here.  The kind of new age craftsmen that are coveted throughout the world by manufacturing companies everywhere and these new age craftsmen that we can create in our junior college system through an innovative public and private partnership that I am proposing.  This partnership will bring products to life that will astound the world, and each product will have a stamp on it and that stamp will once again be the symbol of excellence in all the endeavors.  That stamp will say made in America.

“SECTION. 8. US Constitution

The Congress shall have Power To…

To declare War, grant Letters of Marque and Reprisal, and

make Rules concerning Captures on Land and Water;

To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of

Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two

Years;

To provide and maintain a Navy;

To make Rules for the Government and Regulation of the

land and naval Forces;

To provide for calling forth the Militia to execute the Laws

of the Union, suppress Insurrections and repel Invasions;

To provide for organizing, arming, and disciplining, the

Militia, and for governing such Part of them as may be

employed in the Service of the United States, reserving to

the States respectively, the Appointment of the Officers,

and the Authority of training the Militia according to the

discipline prescribed by Congress;”

As you can see for yourself above, under the Constitution of the United States, the power to declare war is granted only to the CONGRESS and not to the President.

DECLARING WAR IS NOT A PRESIDENTIAL POWER.

HOWEVER, since the end of the Second World War, there has been the rise of ‘Presidential Wars’, undeclared by Congress.  In each case, the President and the military establishment, have somehow created a way to CIRCUMVENT the Constitution in order to expedite their particular war, and in so doing they also circumvented the POLITICAL PROCESS needed to unite the country to win a given war. 

The result has been, wars in which the citizens of the United States are kept out of the loop, our forces demoralized and confused about our true aims.  This is not fair to our dedicated service people who must fight these wars of confusing and conflicting foreign policies.

If, we had instead followed our constitutional process, our forces would not have to go to war without a clear vision and goals.  Those would been set and agreed upon from the beginning.

However, without a constitutionally mandated congressional vote to go to war, and a proper declaration of war, there is no one to hold accountable, and thus, the control of wars since the Second World War has been taken out of the hands of the people and instead put into the hands of political and military leaders. THIS HAD LED TO THE MISUSE OF OUR MILITARY, AND THE ALIENATION OF THE AVERAGE AMERICAN FROM THE POLITICAL PROCESS.  A political process that is absolutely necessary that each citizen must be intimately involved with, in terms of the defense of our country, in order for us to be strong as we can possibly be on the field of battle when the time comes. 

In YOUR judgment, is this a good thing or not?

We cannot live under a military-industrial tyranny feeding a war without end, AND THIS MUST STOP, and we together, must stop now, if we are to save our country and our American Way of Life!

With the push of a button we could wipe IRAN off the earth, and they know that.

There is no need to interweave our foreign policy with Israel’s, as President George Washington warned us not to do. (see President Washington’s warning inside this website) If, Israel needs to defend itself, they can defend themselves quite well without our help, because, Israel is believed by knowledgeable sources, to possess as many as 400 nuclear weapons. They include, THERMONUCLEAR WEAPONS IN THE MEGATON RANGE AND NEUTRON BOMBS, TACTICAL NUCLEAR WEAPONS AND SUITCASE NUKES.

What Israel does want and need, is for the US to back them up after their first strike.

THEN, America IS IMMEDIATELY INTO A LONG AND COSTLY WAR WHICH WILL ALIENATE EVERY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE MIDDLE EAST FOR THE NEXT ONE HUNDRED YEARS!

Israel does not need the US to defend themselves. They need the US so they can start another ill-conceived and costly war, both in terms of the trillions of dollars we would spend, and the thousands upon tens of thousands of American troops that would be killed and maimed as a result.

Why wouldn’t they?  The US has YOUNG, HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL AND EXPERIENCED TROOPS.  We have armed services people without equal in history, and Israel wants them when Iran retaliates after their first strike.

That war will also have the unexpected consequence of consolidating the Iranian people behind a regime about which millions of Iranians have grave, if silent, doubts.

Remember, that millions of Iranians took to the streets in protest in June of 2009 when Ahmadinejad stole the election.  To the right-wing extremist administration in Israel (who got Israel into this mess in the first place through their lack of political imagination and skill) this means nothing, but it means a lot to us.

Israel wants our troops to defend them because the US has THE FINEST, MOST EXPERIENCED, AND EFFECTIVE TROOPS IN THE WORLD. Read more inside to see how GEORGE WASHINGTON, the father of our country, WARNED US NOT TO DO THIS!

Many people mistakenly believe that this war will make Israel safe, when SADLY it will actually have the opposite effect, this war will actually, make Israel LESS SAFE.

In fact, this first strike war by Israel will start a war without end in the Middle East. Spread the message to stop this stupid, potentially disastrous, unnecessary, illegal, and unconstitutional war!
